Katie Holmes had Tom Cruise completely trapped, and I am beginning to feel like she blew her chance.

When Katie Holmes initially filed for divorce, she had the advantage. She filed in New York, making it more likely that she could receive sole custody. She had the negotiating leverage that made her capable of  demanding that Tom Cruise agree to a settlement involving sole custody with extremely limited visitation, or she could have taken him to court. Taking him to court would have tarnished his reputation irreparably and exposed many secrets, so it is likely that she could have negotiated her way to a really, really good deal.

Yet, instead of sticking to her original plan, it seems that Katie caved under the pressure.

Don't get me wrong; I can see why Katie would come to an agreement quickly. Lawyers almost always encourage clients to settle, and I am sure that Katie's attorney encouraged her to take what appeared to be a fair agreement. It is usually in the best interest of everyone to settle, and judges don't look kindly upon parties who refuse to play nicely with one another. And, of course, court would have been hard on Katie and there was the possibility that it would have ended with the same result or, possibly worse, with even more visitation for Tom Cruise and less money in Katie Holmes' pocket.  This is the "Let's Settle" Argument: Family Law 101.

But, still...it does seem that Katie Holmes let Tom Cruise get off way, way too easy. Doesn't it?

The settlement stopped the press coverage of Scientology, for the most part. And it appears that Tom Cruise has pretty generous visitation, much too generous for Katie to retain control over Suri's upbringing. Indeed, it would seem that Tom Cruise sees Suri about as much as he used to see her, but now Auntie Scientology (Cass Mapother) is around all of the time.

So what happened?

I suspect that negotiations involved a lot of threats about bleeding Katie dry financially and destroying her image. Already exhausted from divorce battle preparation, she probably bought into it and agreed to a deal that she thought would still give her majority control.

But it does not seem to be panning out so well for Katie, does it?

Instead of anti-Tom Cruise/Scientology articles, we are hearing about how supportive Tom Cruise is being about Katie's decision to enroll Suri in Catholic School. We are seeing photos of them playing together. Tom swimming with Suri. Tom cuddling Suri. Tom and Suri at Disney World. Suddenly, we like Tom Cruise again!

Wait. How did that happen?

Tom Cruise has a team of PR geniuses, and right now we are being a little brain washed. He is good at that, you know.

But how does a single mom who wants to impose discipline on her child compete with that? How does a mother who has a comparably minuscule budget compete with Disney World extravaganzas, VIP Princess suites, ice cream all night and no rules? How does a mom who merely wants to raise her child "normally" compete with someone who is so well-versed in mind manipulation?

"...while Tom has openly ridiculed psychology as a fraud, it appears to be working squarely in his favor..."

How ironic, no?

Is Demi Moore REALLY Dating The Hot Guy From The Ring?

According to Life and Style, Demi Moore is now dating another much younger man, Martin Henderson.

Life & Style can exclusively reveal that Demi Moore, 49, has been secretly dating New Zealand-born actor Martin Henderson, who is 12 years her junior.

Life & Style has obtained exclusive photos of Demi and her new younger man on a romantic Connecticut getaway. On July 19, Demi and Martin went to lunch at Nine Main Bakery and Deli in New Preston, Conn. "She was in line and a Colbie Caillat song came on -- she started singing along and dancing in a playful, flirty way," shares a fellow diner.

After lunch, the two went grocery shopping together, then drove back to the house where they stayed on their vacation.

"They were very comfortable with each other," notes a fellow diner.

Three days earlier, they'd enjoyed a lobster dinner at a friend's house, followed by a two-hour hike at Steep Rock Preserve the next morning. Later that night, Demi and Martin, 37, joined pals for a casual outdoor barbecue. "They just kept chatting and laughing," reports a guest.

Notes another insider who saw the actress on her romantic getaway, "She looked great -- chatty, healthy and happy."


At this point, Demi Moore and her constant leaks about the hot young men that she is dating is getting old...er, no pun intended.

There was Zac Efron (LOL), a 26 year old personal trainer named Blake Corl-Baietti, True Blood actor Joe Manganiello...and, now, the super gorgeous guy who played Naomi Watts' ex in The Ring, Martin Henderson.

Remember him? I was so upset when he died in that movie...because he was so hot.

Shallow, I know.

Anyway, this time it is a bit different because there are actually photos involved! However, I am still a bit skeptical, just because there are no photos of them acting like a couple. Are they involved in a project together? Did she hire him to play her new hot young boyfriend?

It is not that I do not believe Demi Moore can land someone like Martin Henderson, it is just that I am so sick of her antics, and I cannot help but wonder if this is another ploy in the never ending "Mission: Get Back Ashton."

Also, I think that Demi Moore needs to date an older, executive type man. I mean, there is a 12 year age gap here, and Demi seems to think that when she dates younger men, it validates her "hotness." Instead, it is just making her look really pathetic.

And, trust me, I am NOT anti-cougar. But, Cougar only works when a woman has her sh-t together, and when she is truly confident. As we all, know, that does not even begin to describe Demi Moore right now. I feel like I am about to witness another Demi Disaster, if this dating situation is true.

At this point, I think we can all agree that we would love to see Demi Moore go the "Carole Radziwill Confident Woman Who Dates Whomever She Wants And Is Never Needy" route, but that will never happen.

So, alternatively, Demi needs to go with the "Powerful, Wealthy Older Man" route.

Think: Salma Hayek and Francois Henri Penault, Stephanie Seymour and Phillip Brant...

That is how you do it, Demi. They are always older than you, and you don't have to worry about their motives. If they cheat on you, they will pay. Literally. And their power is sexy, even if their body is not.

How HOT Is Christian Bale Right Now?

An Academy Award winning actor travels to Aurora, Colorado to visit shooting victims. On his own. Not representing his studio. Sigh.

Denver Post:
AURORA — Christian Bale, star of the last three Batman films, met at the Medical Center of Aurora on Tuesday afternoon with seven patients injured in the mass shooting that occurred during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."

Hospital interim president Bill Voloch said Bale spent about 2½ hours at the hospital, where he met with five people being treated for their injuries. Two others came from Swedish Medical Center to meet Bale, who stars as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," Voloch said. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."

Voloch said Bale notified hospital officials that he wanted to visit the injured but asked that media not be notified. "He just wanted to meet with victims and police."

Among the people Bale visited was Carey Rottman of Denver. Friends quickly tweeted out a photo of their visit.

Bale and [his wife, Sibi] Bazic also visited a growing memorial to victims near the movie theater.

Officials from Warner Bros. Pictures, maker of "The Dark Knight Rises," said Bale came to Aurora on his own.

"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," said an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Bros.' corporate communications.

As you may have heard, Kristen Stewart, 22, cheated on her boyfriend and Twilight co-star, Robert Pattinson, with her married 41 year-old Snow White And The Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

According to a recent interview with Elle Magazine, it seems that things were coming too easy for Kristen Stewart, so she created some drama for herself. 

"You can learn so much from bad things. I feel boring. I feel like, Why is everything so easy for me? I can’t wait for something crazy to f-cking happen to me. Just life. I want someone to f-ck me over! Do you know what I mean?"

...or, if someone won't f-ck me over, I guess I will just f-ck them over!

Robert Pattinson was not going to f-ck her over, due to his apparent inability to comprehend cheating:

Italian Vanity Fair:

[Robert Pattinson] said: 'There is one thing I've never understood: Why people cheat. My parents met when my mom was 17 and my father 25, they are still together, and seem very happy.

'I grew up believing that you can be together all of your life.'

The reality is that Kristen Stewart's threshold for excitement must be incredibly high. 

Think about it: what had you experienced at 22 years old?

At 22, Kristen Stewart has experienced international fame, recognition as the highest paid actress in Hollywood, and she has one of the world's biggest heartthrobs wrapped around her little finger. 

OF COURSE, something "bad" was going to happen. Kristen Stewart was going to make it happen. Because she was BORED.

So what did she do? She not only cheated on her heartthrob boyfriend, she cheated with her married, older director. She cheated with the husband of her co-star in SWATH, Liberty Ross, the woman who played her MOTHER. 

IN PUBLIC.

IN A CAR.

Because a hotel room would have been too boring. Someone unmarried would have been too boring. A young actor would have been too boring. Someone with an anonymous wife would have been too boring.

And we thought the "Bored Kristen Stewart" thing was just an act. 

Of course, the Twilight fans are crying foul with accusations of Photoshop and trickery, with many believing that Rupert Sanders face has been superimposed on Robert Pattinson's body.

"#RobstenIsUnbroken!"

Sadly, it appears that Robsten IS broken, and in a bad way.

Although the Us Weekly cover photo of Kristen Stewart does look strangely familiar, the other shots of her inside the car don't appear to be Photoshopped. It appears that Rupert Sanders may be actually "going down" on Kristen in a few of the shots, and I do not recall seeing photos of Kristen Stewart in that sort of position before, even with Robert Pattinson.

Moreover, Us Weekly is one of the more credible gossip magazines, and it is unlikely they would print fake photos.

What is also interesting is that Kristen Stewart's reps basically admitted the affair to People ("Publicist Plants") Magazine:

People:

'Kristen is absolutely devastated. It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgement. She wasn't having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn't have happened. She never meant to hurt anyone. She's a good person who just made a bad choice.'

"Fleeting moments" for high profile celebrities don't usually happen in public, in a car. That kind of brazen affection is for people either trying to leak a story themselves (*cough* Leann Rimes), or for a couple who has gotten too comfortable. I mean, the photos were supposedly taken last Tuesday, but the film wrapped how long ago? So how long has this been going on?

Rupert Sanders wife, Liberty Ross, also cryptically admitted the affair, through her (now deleted) Twitter account. She posted several telling tweets, including this photo of snow white.....

And, now, Kristen Stewart has actually issued a public apology to Robert Pattinson. This affair would not be exciting enough for Kristen Stewart if it was dismissed as mere Photoshop:


"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a statement Wednesday.


Well, there you have it. 

What will Robert Pattinson do? Will he forgive Kristen Stewart? This is so much more complicated because of its high profile nature. Can Robert Pattinson accept Kristen Stewart's apology without seeming pathetic? 

Perhaps more important, does Kristen Stewart really want to be forgiven, or was this a passive aggressive move to free herself from all things Twilight-related, now that the franchise is done filming?

FINALLY, A Good Gossip Day!!

I have been on radio silence for the past few days. I was in the mountains at a Colorado Children's Hospital charity bike race, and my access to the internet was limited.

When I returned I felt a sudden apathy for gossip.

Perhaps it was the Aurora Batman situation. I live in Colorado and the freak was a med student at the Aurora campus, so all weekend I got the inside scoop from doctors who work there.

Then I got home and went to On Demand to watch The Bachelorette, and there was a live stream memorial service during the finale! You must be kidding me, right? All I want to do is watch boring Emily Maynard and boring Jef Holm pretend to be in love on shallow television, and I have clergy pondering the fragility of life.

#buzzkill.

But, today, there is Kristen Stewart and a myriad of other interesting things to discuss. So all of that is coming up!

PS, should I write a book? Has anyone written a book? I will be reading What Remains, by Carole Radziwill, and I just know that I will want to write a book afterwards. Message me, if you have any words of wisdom...

Jef Holm. Blonde. Who does he resemble...?

If you have not yet heard, the new rumor going around is that Emily Maynard "100% chooses" Jef Holm.

This is what I wrote recently:


As I have reported all along, I believe that Emily Maynard chooses Arie Luyendyk, Jr. at the end of the show, and I think that Jef Holm is only around because:


1) They are helping him promote his charity, People Water, which is similar to Bachelorette Producer Cassie Lambert's charity, Drop In The Bucket--both help provide drinking water to third world countries (what a coincidence!);


 2) Jef Holm shares a mutual friend with Emily, Michelle Money's brother, and;


 3) Jef Holm is non-threatening, so Emily Maynard does not have to worry about him trying to bust too many moves on her, since she has only really wanted Arie since the beginning.


I have not watched the Bachelorette since 2004 (Meredith Phillips!), and I do recall that the Bachelorette producers were pretty good at faking me out back then. So, even though my gut has said that Emily Maynard picks Arie Luyendyk, Jr., I am willing to look at both sides and admit that editing is pretty powerful stuff, and there are some signs that do point to Jef being the winner.

For example...

During the last episode in Curacao, I felt like the producers left in A LOT of incriminating stuff about Arie that they would possibly not have left in, had he won. For example, when Emily said something along the lines of, "It was you and nobody else once I met you, I was done." That is one of those things that you, as a producer, may encourage Emily to say to the "loser," but you edit out if she says it to the winner. Because she was essentially saying that Arie was going to win, so that made me wonder...


And then, Emily wore her "favorite dress" of the season on a date with...Jef Holm! Ladies, we all know that we save our favorite dress for our favorite guy, so if she picked Arie, would she have worn her favorite dress on the date with Jef?


From In Style Magazine: 
Emily Maynard loved the... AllSaints dress she wore on her date with Jef in Curacao. “The Bachelorette stylist, Cary Fetman, bought this in London, and it was love at first sight!” Maynard [said]... “I wanted to save it for the right time. I waited so long, we were actually scared we’d run out of time, and I’d never get to wear it!”

Let's go through and discuss my doubts about Jef Holm, followed by rebuttals. I am a lawyer, after all. I can argue both sides of anything.

Overall obvious rebuttal to any previous doubts: EDITING, but that is pretty unsatisfying, so let's analyze in detail...

Doubt: Jef Holm seems way too feminine for Emily Maynard. Bouffant hair. Skinny jeans. Playing with puppets. Giggling. Chloe handbags. Declining the overnight date...

Rebuttal: Jef Holm does resemble Emily Maynard's ex, Ricky Hendrick, and Emily Maynard seems to like blondes, like Brad Womack. She also describes him as "edgy," which I totally don't see, so there may be another side of Jef Holm that we are not getting to see on the show.

Also, after short-lived romances with NFL players and NASCAR drivers, it is possible that Emily Maynard has finally accepted that she needs to stop dating players. Players tend to be nightclub owners (Brad Womack), and sports figures (Arie Luyendyk, Jr.?).

Doubt: Jef Holm seems way too Mormon for Emily Maynard. Emily is Christian, but Mormon and Christian are very different.

Rebuttal: I do not have conclusive evidence that Jef Holm is a practicing Mormon, other than he is from Utah and his family is very, very Mormon.

Doubt: Jef Holm seems to have only gotten on the show due to his connection to Michelle Money's brother and his company, which is similar to Producer Cassie Lambert's charity.

Rebuttal: Jef Holm may have gotten onto the show due to these connections, but perhaps he stayed due to Emily Maynard's super hot attraction to him (giggle), which brings me to...

Doubt: Jef Holm and Emily Maynard have non-existent chemistry.

Rebuttal: If Emily Maynard did pick Jef Holm, it is possible that the producers edited out most of the hot and heavy scenes, but left in all of the kissing scenes with Arie Luyendyk, Jr., to throw us off.

Doubt: Why would the producers plant so many stories about Arie Luyendyk, Jr., if he is not even the winner?

Rebuttal: Perhaps producers did not want us to know who the final two were, so they tried to fake us out by planting the Cassie Lambert drama stories just so we would think Arie got kicked out early.

They could not fool us early on by editing out the scenes with Arie because they had to keep them in so we would keep guessing at this final stage.

FINAL, OVERALL REBUTTAL: Jef Holm's family is VERY WEALTHY and lives on one of the most gorgeous pieces of property ever--the perfect playground for little Ricki to grow up on.

I mean, did you see the "Holmstead Ranch?!" That certainly did make Jef Holm a tad more attractive, right? And some sites are saying that her feelings changed after the hometown dates, so it is possible that she was going to choose Arie but, after the hometown dates, she began to develop more feelings for Jef Holm.

Gosh, I wonder why...

Jef Holm and Emily Maynard. That, my friends, is Holmstead Ranch. I wouldn't mind living there.
